Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Orbit Determination and Mission Design Engineer II in the ATX team to advance spacecraft navigation for GEO, cislunar, and interplanetary missions. You will work hands-on with computing orbit solutions, developing navigation software, and supporting mission operations from day one.

Qualifications

  • MS in Aerospace Engineering or PhD in a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with no additional experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of astrodynamics and orbital mechanics.
  • Experience or coursework in orbit determination, estimation theory, or navigation.
  • Experience in Python, Julia, or C++.

Responsibilities

  • Perform orbit determination for GEO, cislunar, and interplanetary spacecraft; generate solutions from radiometric, Doppler, and GPS data.
  • Develop, test, and maintain navigation algorithms and data processing tools in Python, Julia, or C++; contribute to a shared codebase.
  • Provide operations support during mission-critical phases, executing orbit determination products under real-time constraints.
  • Support trajectory and mission design tasks for GEO, cislunar, and interplanetary concepts.
  • Develop and validate force and measurement models and simulation tools for high-fidelity navigation analysis.
  • Collaborate with ATX team members, flight operations, and systems engineers; document results in memos and design reviews.
  • Participate in sprint planning and delivery in an Agile environment; use Jira and git to manage work.
