Job summary

Sierra Oral and Facial Surgery in Reno is seeking an experienced Dental Assistant to join our high-performing team. You will provide four-handed chairside assistance during complex oral and maxillofacial procedures and support sedation workflows.

This safety-sensitive role requires active BLS/CPR, familiarity with imaging and 3D CBCT, and travel between local Reno locations to support daily operations within Bluetree Dental network.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Oral Surgery (OS) assisting experience.
• Hands-on imaging skills: X-rays and 3D CBCT; sedation assistance incl. nitrous oxide.
• Active BLS/CPR certification required (recertification fees covered).
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a major plus.
• Reliable, punctual, adaptable, team-focused with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Familiarity with practice management software (Open Dental experience a plus).
• Safety-sensitive role; pre-employment drug screen; CDC/OSHA/ADA standards.

Responsibilities

• Surgical Chairside Assisting: four-handed chairside support during complex procedures.
• Patient Sedation & Monitoring: assist with sedation workflows including Nitrous Oxide and recovery monitoring.
• Imaging & Radiography: take dental X-rays and 3D CBCT scans for surgical planning.
• Sterilization & Operatory Prep: prepare, sterilize, and turnover surgical suites with infection control.

• Job Type: Full-Time
• Pay Rate: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour (DOE)

What We're Looking For (Qualifications)

• Clinical Experience: Minimum 1 year of Oral Surgery (OS) assisting experience required.
• Imaging & Sedation Skills: Hands-on experience taking X-rays / 3D CBCT scans and assisting with patient sedation (including Nitrous Oxide).
• Certifications: Active BLS/CPR Certification required (we cover your annual recertification fees!).
• Language Skills: Bilingual English/Spanish is a major plus!
• Core Professional Traits: Reliable, punctual, adaptable, and team-focused with a positive attitude and a continuous willingness to learn.
• Software: Familiarity with practice management software (Open Dental experience is a plus!).

• Dr. Ryan Falke, DDS: Dr. Falke brings a unique, highly specialized background to our practice. He initially earned a degree in computer engineering from Brigham Young University, publishing research in autonomous robotics and working as a network engineer. Pursuing his true passion, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University and practiced as a general dentist in Sacramento before completing an intensive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) residency at Loma Linda—the only Level-1 trauma center in the Inland Empire—under the tutelage of the renowned Dr. Alan Herford.
• Dr. Falke is proficient in advanced technological methods for wisdom tooth removal, implants, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, reconstruction, and facial cosmetics, with published research in bone regeneration and grafting. Outside the clinic, Dr. Falke and his wife enjoy raising their four young children while hiking local mountains, visiting Reno parks, and riding bikes together!

What You’ll Do Every Day (Responsibilities)

• Surgical Chairside Assisting: Provide four-handed chairside assisting during complex oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures.
• Patient Sedation & Monitoring: Assist with patient sedation workflows, including Nitrous Oxide administration and post-operative recovery monitoring.
• Advanced Imaging & Radiography: Take high-quality dental X-rays and 3D CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scans to support surgical planning.
• Sterilization & Operatory Prep: Prepare, sterilize, and turn over surgical suites while maintaining strict infection control protocols.
• Multi-Site Collaboration: Travel between our local Reno-area practice locations as scheduled to support daily clinical operations.
