Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery in Midlothian, VA is hiring an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant. This full-time position supports the surgeon before, during and after procedures and requires a patient-focused team member.

Responsibilities include preparing surgical trays, taking digital x-rays, documenting charts, maintaining sterilization, and assisting with evaluations and post-op visits. A minimum of one year dental assisting experience is preferred; HIPAA knowledge and CPR are a plus.

Qualifications

• One year of dental assisting or surgery experience required; oral and maxillofacial surgery experience preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles, required.
• Understanding of HIPAA, required.
• CPR certification, preferred.
• Familiar with anatomy and medical and dental terminology pertaining to oral surgery.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.
• Take digital x-rays and models.
• Document patient charts accurately during evaluations, surgical procedures, and post‑op appointments.
• Prepare surgical trays, and evaluation and surgical rooms for procedures.
• Maintain sterilization of instruments, laboratories, and treatment rooms.
• Complete clinical and pharmacy logs according to practice standard.
