Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Practice | Greenville, NC

Our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice is seeking a dependable, energetic, and compassionate Oral Surgery Assistant / Front Desk Administrator to join our team.

This is a dual-role position for someone who enjoys working directly with patients and is comfortable supporting both the clinical and administrative sides of an oral surgery practice. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, detail-oriented, and able to transition smoothly between patient care, surgical assisting, and front-office responsibilities.

About The Position

This position will primarily support the surgical team and patients while also providing front-office and administrative assistance as needed. You will play an important role in creating a positive patient experience and keeping the practice running efficiently.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Assist the oral surgeon during consultations and surgical procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and surgical equipment.
  • Assist with IV sedation and surgical procedures according to training and practice protocols.
  • Obtain and document patient health histories and vital signs.
  • Monitor and assist with patient recovery following sedation.
  • Provide patients and caregivers with post-operative instructions.
  • Assist with patient discharge and ensure patients understand their instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical environment.
  • Perform sterilization, instrument processing, and operatory turnover.
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection-control, and practice safety protocols.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team.
  • Provide compassionate and professional patient care throughout the surgical experience.
Front Desk & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Greet patients warmly and professionally.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls appropriately.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out.
  • Schedule consultations, surgeries, and follow-up appointments.
  • Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, paperwork, and general office procedures.
  • Scan, upload, and maintain patient records and documentation.
  • Assist with referrals and communication with referring dental offices.
  • Enter and update patient information accurately in the practice management system.
  • Assist with obtaining insurance information and other administrative tasks.
  • Support the front-office team during periods of increased activity.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
Experience
  • Previous dental assisting, oral surgery, surgical assisting, or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong patient care and customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Dependability and excellent attendance.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Comfort working in both a clinical and front-office environment.

Previous oral surgery experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to consider candidates with strong dental assisting or healthcare experience who are motivated to learn.

The Ideal Candidate
We Are Looking For Someone Who Is
  • Patient-focused. You understand that patients may be nervous or anxious about oral surgery and you help make their experience as comfortable as possible.
  • Team-oriented. You work well with the surgeon, clinical team, and front-office staff and are willing to step in wherever help is needed.
  • Organized. You can keep track of multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Dependable. You understand that your attendance and reliability directly affect patient care and the surgical schedule.
  • Adaptable. You are comfortable moving between clinical and administrative responsibilities throughout the day.
  • Professional. You represent the practice with courtesy, compassion, and professionalism in every patient interaction.
Why Join Our Team?

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants a varied role in a specialty surgical practice rather than performing the same task all day. You will have the opportunity to work directly with patients, assist with oral surgery procedures, develop clinical skills, and contribute to the administrative operations of the practice.

If you are someone who takes pride in your work, enjoys helping patients, and wants to be an important part of a collaborative oral surgery team, we would love to hear from you!
