Job summary

Merck invites students to join the Future Talent Program for a six‑month co‑op in our Pharmaceutical Sciences division in Rahway, NJ, starting Summer 2027. You’ll contribute to formulation, drug delivery, and manufacturing process science for oral solid dosage products and gain hands‑on experience in a GMP environment.

Active pursuit of a B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Chemical or Biomedical Engineering or Pharmaceutical Sciences is required, with strong communication and data‑analysis skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to learn and apply new scientific principles
• Demonstrated ability to collate and conduct basic data analysis
• Prior experience with Microsoft Office
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Prior experience in a laboratory environment
• Prior experience with JMP, Minitab, Matlab (preferred)
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Passion to learn and develop as a pharmaceutical scientist

Responsibilities

• Develops and applies basic principles and scientific concepts to execute work in a laboratory or pilot plant environment to advance new solid oral drug products.
• Capability to support manufacturing operations in pilot plant environments.
• Executes routine experiments and data interpretation with appropriate technical guidance.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot equipment and processes.
• Capable of learning practical laboratory/pilot plant skills and fundamental scientific principles to utilize as part of daily responsibilities.
• Works well with others in collaborative team environments.
