The candidate will administer production Oracle estates and plan cutovers using Oracle DMS, GoldenGate, Data Pump, and RMAN, delivering high-availability and robust recovery strategies. The role requires hands-on migration work, planning migrations, validating data consistency, and minimizing downtime within the agreed window.

Job Title: Oracle DBA – Database Migration & DMS
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid — 3 days on-site)
Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)

About the Opportunity

ZipStaff is seeking an Oracle DBA with database-migration depth for a global technology services firm in Houston.

You will administer production Oracle estates and plan and execute migrations with Oracle Database Migration Service, GoldenGate, Data Pump, and RMAN. This is a hands-on DBA and cutover seat — not a cloud-architect role and not a SQL-developer role.

What You’ll Do:

• Administer, monitor, and maintain Oracle databases in production and non-production.
• Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and run backup and recovery.
• Manage Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, and SQL performance tuning.
• Plan and execute migrations with Oracle DMS, GoldenGate, Data Pump, and RMAN.
• Assess source and target, define the migration strategy, plan cutover, and mitigate risk.
• Troubleshoot migration issues, validate consistency, and hold downtime to the agreed window.
• Implement HA/DR and support business continuity.
• Write migration runbooks, cutover and rollback procedures, and DMS execution plans.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years Oracle database administration in production.
• Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, and SQL performance tuning.
• Hands-on Oracle Database Migration Service and at least one completed Oracle database migration.
• OCI, Exadata, ExaCC, or another cloud migration.
• GoldenGate replication and zero- or minimal-downtime strategies.
• Shell, SQL, and PL/SQL scripting.
• Ability to work hybrid in Houston, TX (3 days on-site).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

• OCI certification.
• Cross-platform migration or database modernization.
• AWS RDS for Oracle or Azure Oracle workloads.
