Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Senior Database Administrator to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency mission for DSMS family, including DIAMONDS, JADE, NIMACS, GAT, and DATS.

You will resolve complex database performance issues, tune Oracle environments, collaborate with development teams, implement STIGs, maintain documentation, and ensure data integrity and security for critical systems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of direct Oracle DBA experience with Oracle Enterprise Editions.
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in Oracle App Development and DBA.
  • 5+ years of IT experience supporting database environments on RHEL and Windows.
  • BS/BA in Computer Science/Software Engineering and/or Database Management with 5–7 years of related work.
  • Oracle 19c Certified Associate (OCA) and Oracle 19c Certified Professional (OCP) preferred.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification upon hire.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Data Guard Replication and RMAN.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows OS administration and troubleshooting.

Job Description: General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) seeks a highly motivated and experienced Senior Database Administrator to support a Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) mission in Albuquerque, NM. This position will support the Defense Stockpile Management Systems (DSMS) which includes: Defense Integration and Management of Nuclear Data Services (DIAMONDS), Joint Application Design Environment (JADE), Nuclear Inventory Management and Cataloging System (NIMACS), Government Acceptance Testing (GAT), and DIAMONDS Accountability Training System (DATS).

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Resolve complex issues involving database performance, database capacity, resiliency, stability, replication, and other key aspects of distributed database technology.
  • Perform testing, analysis, and modification of existing database SQL stored procedures.
  • Evaluate, refine, and tune existing Oracle objects in support of application. Install, upgrade, patch, secure, diagnose system problems, user accessibility, and troubleshoot Oracle Database versions 12.2 through 19.26.
  • Digest onsite concepts, design, implementation, limitations, and configuration of complex database environments.
  • Ability to define, troubleshoot, document, and elevate issues as needed. Work closely with application development team to implement and support data-oriented development efforts.
  • Work closely with support center to expeditiously resolve issues or problems as they arise.
  • Assist with analysis and documentation of user requirements.
  • Implement system security patches & Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Maintain electronic repository of all database baseline, changes, and documentation.
  • Research and recommend solutions that best meet program needs and operational requirements.
  • Work alongside senior application development managers to gather business rules and requirements.
  • Evaluate existing database structures and propose solutions to enhance efficiency while maintaining date integrity.
  • Create database schemas and objects such as tables, columns, triggers, stored procedures, scheduled jobs etc.
  • Create database models based on current and future requirements outlined from customer.
  • Evaluate, review, revise, and integrate database change requests.
  • Utilize tools such as Visual Studio, Toad Data Modeler, SQLPLUS, Team Foundation Server, Azure DevOps, Jira, and SolarWinds Helpdesk.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Education and Experience: 5+ years of direct Oracle DBA experience working with Oracle Enterprise Editions.
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in Oracle Application Development and Database Administration.
  • 5+ years of direct IT experience supporting database environments on RHEL and Windows system platforms.
  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering and/or Database Management plus 5 to 7 years of related work experience.
  • Robust experience administering Oracle Database Enterprise Editions.
  • Oracle 19c Certified Associate (OCA), Oracle 19c Certified Professional (OCP) are preferred prior to hire.
  • CompTIA "Security +" certification in accordance with DoW Directive 8140.01 Cyberspace Workforce Management requirements upon hire.
  • Additional Work Experience Required: Advanced BS degree of analytical ability. Advanced skills in problem solving.
  • Skillful time management and organizational skills to set and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle Data Guard Replication and Recovery Manager. Experience with Linux and Windows based operating systems administration and troubleshooting.
  • Extensive knowledge of relational database concepts; Database Modeling, Design and Database Creation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating database schemas and objects pursuant to current oracle database industry standards and best practices.
  • Ability to create, clone, plug and unplug pluggable databases in a multitenant environment.
  • Experience working with programming languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, Shell Scripts, and Batch Scripts.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for critical database, application, network, and system administration issues.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and with a high degree of independence.
  • Critical thinking skills, ability to accurately analyze information and make sound decisions.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Database best practices, concepts, and technologies.
