Role Overview
RTX Corporation is an Aerospace and Defense company that provides advanced systems and services for commercial, military and government customers worldwide. We’re seeking a highly skilled Oracle Cloud engineer who is energized by solving complex technical challenges and building cloud solutions that scale. This role is deeply hands‑on, blending architectural vision with practical engineering execution. You’ll design, build, secure, and optimize our OCI Platform using Oracle Policy, Role‑Based Access, OCI Recipes, and OCI Functions within modern DevOps and automated OCI environments. You’ll work as part of a team of OCI engineers, collaborating closely to drive cloud innovation and deliver high‑quality solutions for our internal customers.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop core OCI landing zone automation to support scalable, secure, and compliant cloud environments. Implement centralized landing zone management using OCI‑native services such as Cloud Guard, Logging, Audit, and Identity domains.
- Build and maintain OCI infrastructure using Terraform, Oracle Cloud CLI, Ansible, and API integrations. Develop reusable modules, manage version‑controlled deployments, and support environment‑specific configurations.
- Drive a self‑service, automation‑first mindset to empower stakeholders with secure, scalable, and efficient cloud deployment capabilities. Provide automation for self‑service provisioning and management across both traditional IaaS workloads and modern serverless applications.
- Design, implement, and automate OCI networking architectures; create Virtual Cloud Networks (VCNs), subnets, route tables, security lists, and Network Security Groups (NSGs) to ensure secure, scalable, and high‑performance connectivity. Manage gateways such as Internet Gateways, NAT Gateways, Service Gateways, and Dynamic Routing Gateways (DRGs) for hub‑and‑spoke topologies, VCN peering, and hybrid connectivity with on‑premises networks via FastConnect or VPN.
- Design and implement automated guardrails to enforce security and configuration standards across OCI environments; develop deployment automation and auto‑remediation workflows using OCI Cloud Guard, Functions, and IAM policies; build critical event detection and notification systems leveraging OCI Monitoring (detectors and responders), Logging, and Alarms to ensure rapid response to anomalies and misconfigurations.
- Implement least‑privilege access controls using OCI IAM policies, dynamic groups, and compartment hierarchies. Integrate OCI Identity Domains with enterprise identity systems such as Active Directory or LDAP through federation protocols, SCIM provisioning, and identity bridges for seamless user lifecycle management. Configure cloud‑native access patterns including federated SSO, multi‑factor authentication enforcement, and API gateway authorizations within OCI environments.
- Ensure OCI services comply with internal security policies and external standards such as NIST 800‑53, CMMC, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Integrate OCI with enterprise networks and core IT services to ensure seamless connectivity and interoperability.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, document procedures, and recommend architectural improvements to enhance reliability and performance.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with minimum 7 years of experience; in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated OCI engineering, DevOps practices, automation, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Terraform, Python, Ansible, and Bash.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and collaborate across engineering and business teams.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience designing and governing medium or large enterprise‑scale Oracle OCI environments.
- Background in cloud security, including OCI Policy, Role‑Based Access Control, and identity governance.
- Experience building or maturing CI/CD pipelines, observability frameworks, and automated testing practices.
- Prior leadership experience guiding engineering teams through modernization or cloud transformation efforts.
Benefits
We offer a robust total rewards package that includes competitive compensation, healthcare, wellness, retirement and work/life benefits, career development and recognition programs. The benefits include parental leave, flexible work schedules, achievement awards, educational assistance, and child/adult backup care.
Salary range: 132,400 USD – 251,600 USD. This range is a good faith estimate representing all experience levels.
