Job summary

Peraton seeks an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Architect to lead design, implementation, and governance of OCI infrastructure within a multi-cloud government environment. You will translate mission requirements into secure, scalable cloud architectures run for 70+ tenants.

The role requires deep OCI expertise, ability to work independently, mentor engineering staff, and interface with government stakeholders and program leadership.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain DHS Public Trust Clearance
• 5+ years of cloud engineering or architecture on OCI
• Deep OCI core services expertise (Compute, Storage, VCN, Autonomous DB, OKE, IAM)
• Hands-on IaC experience (Terraform/OCI RM, Ansible)

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain OCI reference architectures for compute, networking, storage, databases, and identity management
• Lead tenant onboarding patterns, compartment hierarchies, and resource isolation in OCI
• Evaluate OCI services and patterns to meet FedRAMP/FISMA compliance
• Define and enforce architectural standards, naming conventions, and tagging across OCI estate
• Architect and oversee OCI infrastructure including Compute, Storage, VCN, Autonomous DB, OKE, and Functions
• Implement IaC using Terraform/OCI RM or Ansible for repeatable deployments
• Lead capacity planning, cost optimization, and governance across OCI compartments
• Serve as escalation point for OCI incidents and root cause remediation
• Design security architecture using IAM, NSGs, Security Zones, Cloud Guard and Vault
• Ensure deployments meet security requirements and collaborate on vulnerability remediation
• Own Change Management processes for OCI infrastructure changes
• Partner with Architecture/Security/Service Delivery to align OCI capabilities with program goals
• Mentor engineers and contribute to multi-cloud strategy and modernization roadmaps
• Develop and maintain architecture decision records and knowledge base articles
• Support service delivery metrics with ISR Product Owner

Job description

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree and 8 years professional experience or a Masters degree and 6 years professional experience or an Associates Degree and 10 years professional experience or a High School Diploma/equivalent and 12 years professional experience.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust Security Clearance (Entry on Duty).
• 5+ years of cloud engineering or architecture experience with demonstrated depth in OCI
• Proven experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure in large-scale, multi-tenant government environments
• Deep expertise with OCI core services: Compute, Block/Object Storage, VCN, Autonomous Database, OKE, Functions, and IAM (Identity Domains)
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OCI Resource Manager, Ansible, or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of FedRAMP, FISMA, and federal security requirements as applied to OCI deployments
• Experience with OCI security services including Cloud Guard, Security Zones, Vault, and Network Security Groups
• Strong communication, analytical, and technical documentation skills with the ability to present to government stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional certification (or OCI Architect Associate with demonstrable production architecture experience)
• Additional OCI certifications (OCI Security, OCI Networking, or OCI Database specializations)
• Working proficiency with at least one additional cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with Oracle Database migration and management on OCI (Database Cloud Service, Exadata Cloud Service, Autonomous Database)
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OKE) in production environments
• Experience with OCI data and analytics services (Data Integration, Data Science, Streaming, GoldenGate)
• CI/CD pipeline design and implementation using OCI DevOps or equivalent

Peraton is seeking an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Architect to lead the design, implementation, and governance of OCI infrastructure within a multi-cloud government environment serving 70+ customer tenants and growing. This role is the technical authority for all OCI workloads, responsible for translating mission requirements into secure, scalable, and compliant cloud architectures.

The ideal candidate brings deep OCI expertise with a strong understanding of federal security and compliance frameworks. This role requires the ability to work independently, drive architectural decisions, mentor engineering staff, and interface directly with government stakeholders and program leadership.

Work Location: Remote (but must reside and perform all work within the United States)

Work Hours: This position requires working online from 8:00 AM Eastern to 5:00 PM Eastern

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:

Architecture and Design

• Design and maintain OCI reference architectures for compute, networking, storage, databases, and identity management aligned with government security and compliance requirements
• Lead the architecture of tenant onboarding patterns, compartment hierarchies, and resource isolation strategies within OCI
• Evaluate and recommend OCI services and design patterns to meet evolving program requirements while maintaining FedRAMP and FISMA compliance
• Define and enforce architectural standards, naming conventions, and tagging strategies across the OCI estate

Infrastructure and Operations

• Architect and oversee OCI infrastructure including Compute, Block/Object Storage, Virtual Cloud Networks (VCN), Autonomous Database, Oracle Database Cloud Service, Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE), and Functions
• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (OCI Resource Manager), Ansible, or equivalent tooling for repeatable, auditable deployments
• Lead capacity planning, cost optimization, and resource governance across OCI compartments and tenancies
• Serve as the escalation point for complex OCI infrastructure incidents, driving root cause analysis and systemic remediation

Security and Compliance

• Design and enforce security architecture using OCI IAM (Identity Domains), Network Security Groups, Security Zones, Cloud Guard, and Vault
• Ensure all OCI deployments meet FedRAMP, FISMA, and DHS-specific security requirements
• Collaborate with Security teams on vulnerability remediation, access governance, and audit readiness within OCI
• Own Change Management processes for OCI infrastructure changes

Collaboration and Strategic Impact

• Partner with Architecture, Security, and Service Delivery teams to align OCI capabilities with program strategy and mission objectives
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to cloud engineers working on OCI workloads
• Contribute to multi-cloud strategy, migration planning, and modernization roadmaps
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture decision records, and knowledge base articles
• Support service delivery metrics and reporting in coordination with the Service Delivery Manager and ISR Product Owner
