Job summary

LightFeather is seeking an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the U.S. Department of State in modernizing and maintaining secure, scalable OCI environments. You will design, implement, and optimize OCI solutions while ensuring compliance with federal security requirements.

This hybrid role combines on-site work in Washington, DC, with one remote day per week, focusing on OCI compute, networking, storage, IAM, and automation to support mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, including at least two years with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of OCI compute, storage, IAM, networking, and database services.
• Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with cloud security, compliance, and monitoring solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage OCI services including compute, networking, storage, and databases.
• Configure VCNs, subnets, gateways, and load balancers for mission-critical apps.
• Apply cloud security best practices per NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP.
• Develop and maintain IaC scripts using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Monitor performance, optimize costs, and ensure high availability across OCI.
• Troubleshoot OCI issues and provide escalation support when needed.
• Collaborate with security, development, and operations on migrations and modernization.
• Maintain documentation on cloud architectures, configurations, and processes.

LightFeather is seeking a skilled Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the U.S. Department of State in modernizing and maintaining secure, scalable cloud environments. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize OCI solutions while ensuring compliance with federal security requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise across OCI compute, networking, storage, databases, security, and automation, with the ability to support mission‑critical federal systems. This is a Full‑Time, Hybrid Position requiring four days onsite and one remote day per week.

• Location: Hybrid, On‑site 4 days/week in Washington, D.C. 20036 and 1 day Telework
• Job Type: Full-time
• Salary: $160,000–$180,000 annually, based on experience level.
• Clearance Requirement: Candidates must possess an active Secret clearance and be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services, including compute, networking, storage, and database solutions.
• Configure and maintain Virtual Cloud Networks (VCNs), subnets, gateways, and load balancers supporting mission‑critical applications.
• Implement cloud security best practices aligned with federal compliance frameworks, including NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Monitor system performance, optimize cloud costs, and ensure high availability across OCI environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex OCI‑related issues, providing escalation support when needed.
• Collaborate with security, development, and operations teams on cloud migrations and enterprise modernization initiatives.
• Maintain detailed documentation covering cloud architectures, configurations, and operational processes.

Required Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, including at least two years of experience working specifically with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of OCI compute, storage, Identity and Access Management (IAM), networking, and database services.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, including Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with cloud security, compliance, and monitoring solutions.Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to support mission‑critical federal systems.
• Familiarity with Oracle Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE) and Docker.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect certification or related OCI certifications.
• Experience with hybrid or multi‑cloud environments integrating OCI with on‑premises systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience supporting the Department of State or other federal civilian agencies.
• Strong knowledge of federal IT security standards and accreditation processes.
