Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Cloud HCM Payroll & Absence Consultant to support a major Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM transformation initiative.
The consultant will work closely with Payroll, Human Resources, Information Technology, and implementation teams to translate business requirements into effective Oracle Cloud solutions. The position will have a strong focus on Payroll and Absence Management, including configuration, testing, data validation, reporting, integrations, deployment, and post-production support.
The successful candidate should combine strong Oracle Fusion Cloud technical knowledge with a solid understanding of payroll business processes, compliance requirements, and implementation methodologies.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Oracle HCM Implementation
- Collaborate with Payroll, HR, IT, and project stakeholders to understand and document business requirements.
- Support solution design and functional configuration within Oracle Fusion Cloud Payroll and Absence Management.
- Assist with payroll elements, balances, costing, fast formulas, absence plans, accrual rules, and related HCM configurations.
- Participate throughout implementation, testing, deployment, and stabilization activities.
- Help coordinate requirements and solutions between functional business users and technical teams.
Testing & Data Validation
- Develop and execute test scenarios covering unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), UAT, parallel payroll testing, and pre-production validation.
- Prepare test cases and assist with defect identification, tracking, and resolution.
- Support employee and payroll data conversion, validation, reconciliation, and audit activities.
- Investigate discrepancies and work with project teams to determine appropriate resolutions.
- Participate in post-go-live stabilization and issue resolution.
Reporting & Technical Support
- Develop and maintain Oracle HCM reporting solutions using OTBI, BI Publisher, and HCM Extracts.
- Assist with integrations between Oracle Cloud HCM and external applications, including timekeeping, benefits, finance, and related systems.
- Troubleshoot configuration, data, reporting, and interface issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and coordinate with technical teams and Oracle Support when required.
- Utilize tools such as Jira for issue and defect management.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Prepare configuration documentation, process flows, test documentation, and user guides.
- Provide knowledge transfer and functional assistance to Payroll and HR users.
- Support training activities and help users understand new Oracle Cloud functionality.
- Contribute to change‑management and implementation‑readiness activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, system configuration, data quality, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Minimum 6 years of hands‑on experience with Oracle HCM Cloud.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud Payroll and Absence Management.
- At least 6 years of experience supporting Payroll through an HCM implementation, migration, transition, or major system upgrade.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, taxation, compliance, and related business processes.
- Experience with Fast Formulas, payroll elements, balances, costing, and Legislative Data Groups (LDGs).
- Understanding of Absence Management, absence plans, accruals, and related processing.
- Experience with Oracle HCM reporting technologies, particularly OTBI and BI Publisher.
- Knowledge of HCM Extracts, APIs, and Oracle integration capabilities.
- Experience supporting data conversion, reconciliation, and validation activities.
- Experience participating in structured testing and defect‑resolution processes.
- Experience with at least one Oracle Cloud HCM implementation lifecycle is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when working with payroll and employee data.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into practical system solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Payroll, HR, IT, vendors, and implementation partners.
- Comfortable working independently while managing multiple project priorities.
- Strong understanding of implementation controls, testing procedures, documentation, and data reconciliation.
Required Qualifications
- Oracle Cloud HCM certification, particularly in Payroll and/or Absence Management.
- Previous experience supporting a Payroll organization during an Oracle HCM transformation or system upgrade.
- Strong working knowledge of OTBI, BI Publisher, and HCM Extracts.
- Experience with payroll integrations involving time and labor, benefits, financial systems, or third‑party applications.
- Experience providing post‑production Oracle Cloud Payroll support.
Engagement Requirements
This is a 6+ month consulting engagement requiring a hybrid work schedule in Newark, New Jersey, with three onsite days per week.
Candidates should be located within a practical commuting distance of Newark and be available for an in‑person interview.
