Job summary

GM Financial seeks an Oracle Application Development Manager to lead a global team of Senior Oracle Developers, Report developers and consultants. You will ensure delivery excellence, enforce standards, and partner with senior leaders to execute the technical roadmap.

The role demands strong problem solving, budgeting, and advanced Oracle/IT governance experience within a financial services context. Hybrid work with on-site presence in Irving, TX is supported.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years in a Technical lead or manager role, leading a team of developers.
  • Bachelor’s or higher in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience delivering enterprise applications with Oracle technologies.
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules and offshore/onshore teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Senior Oracle Application Developers, Report developers and Oracle consultants onsite and offshore.
  • Conduct performance reviews, schedule time off, monitor time and training needs.
  • Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery and adherence to development standards.
  • Review designs and solutions to meet business requirements per functional designs.
  • Collaborate with Data Architecture, DBA, System Administration and partners to identify risks.
  • Assist with budgeting and liaise with external vendors and third-party providers.

Job Description

The Oracle Application Development Manager is a highly visible role and will be responsible to manage, provide leadership to and be accountable for the performance of Senior Developers, Technical Leads and Senior level professional consultants. The Oracle Application Development Manager should have a passion for building high quality enterprise grade applications and at the same time motivates the team to follow the path. He/she should be an expert in problem solving skills ready to take on very complex assignments and come up with world‑class solutions. In addition, he/she will work with senior leaders to execute against the technical roadmap to deliver high quality projects and build technical excellence within the team. The Oracle Application Development Manager should have prior experience in one or more highly specialized areas of applications systems analysis and programming. He/she will manage global development teams to build and deliver high quality solutions.

In His Role You Will
  • Manage a team of Senior Oracle Application Developers, Report developers and Oracle consultants both onsite and offshore.
  • Management of subordinates including Performance Reviews, approval of time off scheduling, recording time, and training needs for direct reports.
  • Ensure delivery of projects on time and within budget.
  • Review Design and development of technical solutions that meet business requirements based on functional designs.
  • Ensure GMF Oracle Development Standards and project methodology are being followed by development teams.
  • Work on system performance improvement and process improvement initiatives.
  • Work on scheduled release management and work closely with Oracle on Service Requests and RFC’s
  • Closely work with Data Architecture, DBA, System Administrator teams and other business partners to identify dependencies and risks.
  • Help with Budgeting activities.
  • Liaison with external vendors and third party software providers.

  • Advanced knowledge of business processes for supported business groups.
  • Advanced knowledge of information technology systems, infrastructure and operations.
  • Advanced working knowledge of information systems and operations systems for supported business groups.
  • Knowledge of GM Financial's core business functions
  • Knowledgeable of best practices in information technology governance and regulatory landscape for financial institutions.
  • Significant experience in a large and complex business environment.
  • Strong in the use of Microsoft Office software including strong ability to analyze data using Excel for reporting and data mining purposes
  • Strong people skills including the ability to interact with employees at all levels
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to create and work RFC and SR tickets with Oracle On Demand, Oracle Managed Cloud Services and Oracle Support
  • Ability to effectively lead, organize and supervise
  • Ability to meet expected delivery dates and the tasks necessary to achieve objectives.
  • Advanced computer skills and conversance in information technology issues.
  • Advanced experience with data visualization concepts and tools.
  • Deadline oriented.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to manage the investigations function with minimal supervision.
Experience and Education
  • Normal office environment subject to stressful situations
  • Flexible schedule with possibility of working long hours including weekends/holidays, occasional overtime may be required
  • Limited travel may be required to support business needs
  • 7‑10 years in a Technical lead or manager role, leading a team of developers Required
  • Greater than 10 years of IT experience in design, development and production support of Enterprise applications Pref
  • High School Diploma
  • Associate Degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience Required
  • Master’s Degree
