Newporthospitalandhealth is looking for a Surgical Technologist to assist in surgical procedures, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring all supplies are sterile and prepared for use. Candidates will be responsible for monitoring and cleaning surgical instruments and participating in improvements of departmental processes.

Primary Scheduled Hours: 72 hours per pay period (4, 9 hour days)
Job Summary: Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities. Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection prevention and control practices. Directs and checks the work of others in the absence of management staff. Willingness to accept new ideas and work under stressful conditions. Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities. Takes Call as assigned.
Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
Current BCLS Certification. Call is required for this position with 30-minute response time.
Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Registered Surgical Technician.
Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in the operating room/sterile processing.
Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
