Description

Primary Scheduled Hours:Per Diem, Various Shifts

Job Summary:Provides direct and indirect care for the residents as a caregiver and dispenser of medications. Communicates with the residents, family, departmental staff, and visitors.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Transporting residents.
  • Removing linens and trash to proper receptacles.
  • Assists in the preparation of admission of residents.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Assists with bed making, cleanliness, and organization of living space.
  • Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity.
  • Distributes drinking water and other nourishments to residents.
  • Monitors and maintains cleanliness of wheelchairs and assistive devices.
  • Assists residents with handling and care of clothing and other personal property (including dentures, glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, and prosthetic devices).
  • Must be able to follow directions (both oral and written), and work cooperatively with other staff members.
  • Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with residents, family members and other facility staff while assuring confidentiality of resident information.
  • Attends in-service education programs, as assigned, to learn new treatments, procedures, developmental skills, etc.
  • Practice careful, efficient, and non-wasteful use of supplies and linens.
  • Maintains personal health to prevent absence from work due to health problems.
  • Possesses a genuine interest and concern for geriatric and disabled persons.

Education Background and Experience Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent.

Required Licensure / Certifications:

Current Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) in the State of Washington.

Nurse Delegation Core and Diabetic Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

One (1) year experience in direct care of older persons requiring care in a residential environment. Assisted Living required certifications: Mental Health, Dementia, Developmental Disabilities.

Professional Requirements:

  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean, and wears identification while on duty.
  • Completes annual District-required and/or job-required educational requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Attends staff meetings per facility policy.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
  • Represents the District in a positive and professional manner.
  • Participates in department’s performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (PDSA/4DX) activities.
  • Demonstrates the mission, vision, ethics, and goals of the facility as well as the departmental Scope of Service.
  • Communication with patients, residents, guests, family, and staff is courteous, respectful, and helpful.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and accident-free environment.
