Job summary

HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in Miami, FL is seeking an OR Technician PRN to join the surgical services team. The role requires knowledge of sterile technique, instrument handling, and collaboration with nurses and surgeons.

You will assemble supplies, prep sterile tables, maintain asepsis, position patients, and assist during procedures. A CST certification is preferred, with an Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Operating Room Scrub Technician Certification (CST) Preferred.
• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program or experience as scrub tech.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• 1 year minimum experience as an OR TECH.

Responsibilities

• Assembles supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Prepares sterile instrument table and gathers equipment after procedure for cleaning and sterilization.
• Accurately completes sponge, sharp, and instrument counts; reports discrepancies to nurse or surgeon.
• Positions patient according to type of surgery.
• Prepares patient skin for surgery per hospital standards.
• Provides comfort and support pre‑operative patients.
• Transports patients to and from the surgical suite.
• Assists surgical team in procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures.
• Cleans and prepares room between procedures; restocks supplies and organizes for end-of-case cleanup.
• Maintains a safe work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
