Job summary

HCA Florida Aventura Hospital is seeking an Operating Room Technician to support the surgical team in a fast-paced environment. You will assist with instrument handling, aseptic technique and patient positioning, contributing to safe and efficient procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma, CST certification preferred, and at least 1 year of OR tech experience. BLS certification must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CST certification preferred.
• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program or scrub tech experience.
• Current BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of start date.
• 1 year minimum OR tech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assembles supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Prepares sterile instrument table and gathers equipment after procedures for cleaning and sterilization.
• Performs sponge, sharps and instrument counts; reports discrepancies to nurse or surgeon.
• Positions patient according to type of surgery.
• Prepares patient skin for surgery per hospital standards.

Education

Operating Room Scrub Technician Certification (CST)

Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program or experience

Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
