Job summary

WellSpan Health’s Ephrata area is seeking a Part Time Surgical Technologist to support operating room procedures. You will prepare ORs, assist in surgery, maintain aseptic technique and ensure instrument counts are accurate.

On-call requirements include night, weekend, and holidays as needed. The position emphasizes rotating shifts, 3x10 hours weekly, with schedules across 7:00am-5:30pm or 8:00am-6:30pm, and potential evening shifts to meet staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Certificate program post high school vocational training required.
• Less than 1 year relevant experience required; 1 year preferred.
• Must meet CST/Tech in Surgery qualifications under relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for cases by setting up table, instruments and supplies.
• Prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning; monitors and restocks supplies.
• Drapes patients for surgical procedures.
• Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.
• Maintains correct count of instruments, sutures and sponges.
• Prepares patient skin for surgery per hospital standards.
• Maintains aseptic techniques and monitors potential breaches.
• Assists surgeons during operations by retracting tissues under direction.
• Identifies and cares for specimens.
• Rotate between hospital and ambulatory settings if required.
• Meets course and training requirements as outlined for Surgical Technologist ACT 2020.

Education

Certificate Program Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training Required

BLS Certification Required

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery Certification

LPN License (PA) Required or Multi-State LPN License
