Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health’s Jersey City Medical Center seeks an OR Tech I to join the Operating Room team. You will scrub for robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases, and trauma, under the RN and surgeon. 2–3 years of experience preferred; HS diploma or Surgical Tech program required.

Day shift, full-time, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with alternating weekends and call coverage. Competitive benefits provided through RWJBarnabas Health.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program.
• 2–3 years of experience in OR setting.
• Experience scrubbing multiple service lines (robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, plastics, trauma).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to multitask and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team under RN direction and with surgeon.
• Scrub for multiple service lines as listed.
• Deliver patient care before, during, and after surgery.
• Maintain sterile technique and assist with calls as needed.

Pay Range: $31.41 - $38.42 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

A member of the surgical team, acting under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who works with the surgeon and RN in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibility before, during and after surgery.

Qualifications:

Required:

• HighSchooldiplomaorequivalent
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program
• 2 – 3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Certified Surgical Technician, required
• NBSTSA Certification, required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

• 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
• Full Time
• Alternating Weekends, holidays and call coverage
