Job summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital is seeking a Per Diem Patient Support Technician (OR Tech) Days – LOH to assist the surgical team and care for patients and families. You will help with patient care tasks, maintain safety of supplies and equipment, and support the unit environment while upholding NYU Langone Health Core Values.

The role emphasizes compassionate, competent care, infection control, sterile technique, and effective communication with nurses and staff.

Qualifications

• To qualify you must have a High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities; other language an asset.
• Demonstrates ability in computer skills; demonstrates ability in sterile techniques and equipment readiness.
• Demonstrates physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates respect for patient confidentiality, privacy, dignity, and rights.
• Demonstrates infection prevention and control standards; sterile technique awareness.
• Ensures necessary equipment and supplies are present in operating rooms and on the unit; provides direct assistance to surgical team members.
• Maintains cleanliness of the patient care unit and related areas.
• Responds to delegated requests by registered professionals; communicates with patients, families, and staff.
• Completes delegated responsibilities; assists patients with activities and mobility as needed.
