Job summary

UPMC is seeking a highly experienced OR Surgical Specialist RN to lead and support complex surgical procedures in the Operating Room. Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years nursing experience.
• BSN preferred and must maintain certifications within 1 year of hire/transfer.
• UPMC certification requirements within 1 year of hire/transfer or MSN/DNP substitution available.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a unit leader and role model for professional nursing practice.
• Lead teams and participate in shared governance and hospital-wide councils.
• Promote quality patient care, safety, and cost-effective practice.
• Educate staff, support journal clubs, and contribute to continuing education.
• Perform charge nurse duties and manage OR service line in the absence of the clinician.
• Participate in budgeting and procurement of surgical equipment and supplies.
• Ensure proper vendor access, implants, and approved products are used.
• Coordinate service line education and training for new staff.
