This entry-level role focuses on learning and growth under provider supervision, with opportunities for a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 for eligible full-time hires. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, completion of a Surgical Assistant Program, and NBSTSA/NSAA/NCCSA certification, with Virginia registration if applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Surgical Assistant Program required.
• Certified Surgical Assistant certification required (NBSTSA/NSAA/NCCSA).
• Virginia Board of Medicine registration required if employed in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical hand scrub, gowning and gloving and assists on cases.
• Maintains sterile field and assists with instrument counts and prep.
• Protects patient information and follows universal protocol.
• Communicates with circulating nurse and surgeon about equipment and sterility.
• Positions patient, assists with draping and catheterization as needed.
• Assists with perioperative tasks and closes wound under supervision.
