Mercy Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant at The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati to support surgical teams under physician supervision. The entry-level practitioner will focus on learning and growing in this role within a faith-based health system.

The position involves assisting with intraoperative tasks, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting patient care under policy and regulatory guidelines. Previous healthcare exposure is preferred, with program completion required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program required.
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through NBSTSA/NSAA/NCCSA required.
• Virginia requirements may apply if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving per policy.
• Functions as first or second assist on cases with sterile technique.
• Assist with OR case preparation and maintain sterile field.
• Assist with patient positioning and draping, catheterization, and wound closure as directed.
