Job summary

JMC Jefferson Medical Center is seeking a Supply Coordinator to develop, implement, and maintain surgical inventory systems supporting patient care. You will work under the OR Director and collaborate with surgeons, nursing staff, and technicians to ensure availability of supplies and equipment.

The role focuses on accurate inventory control, cost reduction, and timely replenishment, with responsibility for daily operations, records, and adherence to aseptic techniques in the OR.

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, this role is a member of the surgical team who works with Surgeons, Anesthesia personnel, RN’s and other personnel to perform delegated patient care duties according to the standards of the profession and the policies and procedures. Assists in preparing the set-up and implementation of the case to be performed by the Surgeon. The individual in this position will interface daily with patients, physicians, nursing staff and technologists to ensure quality services and continuum of care.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:******EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:****1. High School Diploma or equivalent.2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:******EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:****1. Associates Degree.****EXPERIENCE:****1. 3 years’ experience as a Surgical Technologist****CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**** The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. In conjunction with OR Director and procurement, develops and manages efficient acquisition of surgical inventory materials.2. Develops and maintains systems which assure the accuracy of perpetual inventory counts.3. Develops and maintains inventory locator systems to facilitate easy retrieval of all items.4. Develops and maintains reorder management systems (to include the application of par levels and min/max parameters) to assure a high level of customer service while minimizing inventory levels and inventory outages5. Develops materials cost and inventory reduction programs and provides data to measure progress towards cost reduction targets.6. Develops and analyzes reports (i.e. ABC analysis, usage history, ect) to target efforts to maximize inventory efficiencies.7. Conducts year-end physical inventory and other periodic inventory counts as necessary.8. Provides inventory expertise and technical liaison to Central Sterile Processing9. Assures that the daily operational needs for supplies and equipment are met10. Ascertains daily order requirements through Lawson recommendations, physical counts, and personal observation11. Coordinates special deliveries from vendors.12. Assists surgeon when necessary. Assist with immediate pre and post op care of patient, equipment and instrumentation. Second circulates as assigned13. Utilizes quality aseptic technique when working in an unsterile role or in the OR.14. Assists the circulating RN in monitoring technique of all persons in the OR to maintain a sterile field.15. Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts with the circulating RN following established guidelines16. Assists by gowning and gloving surgeons and positioning equipment and instruments.17. Passes sterile instruments to the surgical team during a surgical procedure.18. Processes supplies, instruments and equipment in patient care19. Assists with the general cleaning duties of the department20. Maintains accurate and appropriate records as directed. Utilizes the computer to process the patient requisitions. Enters patient and procedure information as required by various departments. Completes computer workflow functions. Organizes the workload for the area.21. Will be responsible for operating and troubleshooting various equipment including but not limited to: electro-surgical cautery machine, suction, power equipment, microscope, laser, phaco emulsifier, irrigator, pulsevac, autoclaves, steris, laparoscope, surgical lights and tables.****PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
