Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care seeks a Staff Nurse for the Main Operating Room, General Surgery/Vascular Team 6. This role provides patient care under the Nurse Manager and supports a 24/7 surgical service in a 30‑room OR.

The position features a sign-on bonus up to $12,500, rotating day/evening/night shifts, and pay differentials. Responsibilities include assessment, care planning, documentation and interprofessional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Required nursing degree(s) as listed, with licensure in Iowa by hire date.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills with patients, families, staff, and interdisciplinary team.
• General computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Apply nursing theory to assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate patient responses.
• Coordinate continuum of care across settings with the care team.
• Develop and implement patient care plans based on condition and needs.
• Document interventions and patient/family responses.
• Assist in transfer and discharge planning during the episode of care.
• Follow department policies and universal precautions.
