Job summary

North Carolina Specialty Hospital is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time position with a $15,000 sign-on bonus. Responsibilities include providing specialized perioperative nursing care, ensuring patient safety, and coordinating with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Qualifications include an accredited nursing degree, NC or compact RN licensure, BLS, and CNOR preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; associate degree required; BSN preferred.
• Current RN licensure in NC or compact state.
• BLS certification required on hire.
• ACLS & PALS preferred; must obtain within 6 months if not active.
• CNOR certification strongly preferred.
• Familiar with perioperative instruments and equipment.
• Manual dexterity for instrument handling.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring a safe plan of care in the operative setting.
• Apply age-specific standards for care and medications according to patient age.
• Incorporate cultural and developmental needs into the care plan.
• Exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Prioritize tasks to maintain patient safety amid interruptions.
• Document patient care in the chart per standards of nursing practice.
• Promote Universal Protocol and time-out procedures for every procedure.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and OR staff to optimize outcomes.
