Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient, including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practice.
• Be part of an interdisciplinary team including providers and surgeons.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes.
