Job summary

HCA Florida JFK Hospital in Atlantis, FL is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room to influence patient care through collaboration with managers and hospital councils. The role emphasizes patient safety, continuous improvement, and participation in national nursing initiatives.

You will evaluate patients pre-operatively, educate families, prepare patients, and participate in site-verification and protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Florida RN license (or recognized compact licensure).
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and perioperative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative medications and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification following universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team in the OR.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking and leadership to safe care.
• Assess patient condition throughout the shift and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about treatment and follow-up care.
