Overview

Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Locum Tenens, Chicago, IL. Advance your nursing career as a Locum Tenens OR RN in Chicago, IL 60612. Join a top-rated Level 1 Trauma Center, providing critical perioperative care to a diverse patient population in a dynamic healthcare environment. This travel nursing assignment offers experience in trauma and surgery while based in Chicago’s vibrant community.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care in a busy Level 1 Trauma Center
• Scrub and circulate for surgical procedures (Ortho, Trauma, Vascular, Urology, General Surgery)
• Participate in scheduled call rotations
• Float to additional units as needed to support hospital operations
• Document patient care using Cerner electronic health records
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (required at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience as an Operating Room Registered Nurse
• Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
• Proficient in scrub and circulate roles
• Experience with Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery cases
• BLS certification (required)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (no COVID-19 exemptions; medical/religious exemptions for Flu only)
• Ability to float to other units and facilities within a 50-mile radius
• Strong compliance and documentation skills

• Position Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Registered Nurse
• Start Date: September 30, 2025
• End Date: December 30, 2025
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: 5x8-hour evening shifts (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call Requirement: One 12-hour shift per month (Saturday or Sunday)
• Floating: Required within facility and up to 50 miles as needed
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2620-$2690
