Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Nurse Manager of Operations for the Operating Room to lead day-to-day OR operations, staffing, and budget management. The role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient patient care across designated departments.

The position requires a nursing bachelor’s with a master’s degree or enrollment in a master’s program, at least three years of nursing/healthcare experience, BLS, and a current state license. Magnet certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing; Master's degree preferred or in progress within 1 year.
• Three years of nursing or health care experience with increasing responsibilities.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current clinical license in the state of the hospital.
• Magnet-recognized certification for specialty area.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of designated departments, including staffing, budgets, and 24/7 accountability.
• Provide supervision and guidance to team members; conduct annual and mid-year reviews.
• Set department goals and track progress with leadership; communicate risks and decisions.
• Ensure policies meet Joint Commission and regulations; update as needed.
• Interpret patient requirements and coordinate care with resources.
• Handle escalations and balance priorities; lead problem solving.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
