Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Nurse Operating Room Manager to lead a high-performing perioperative team. You will shape nursing practices within the unit, collaborate with nursing supervisors, and drive policy development to ensure patient-centered care and safety.

You will oversee budgets and resources, participate in governance activities, and promote continuous quality improvement through education and leadership for staff across the OR.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• 3+ years as an RN Manager with peri-op experience.
• Strong provider relationship skills and ability to champion provider partnerships.
• Certification or willingness to obtain within 2 years in the OR.

Responsibilities

• Set and share a clear vision for nursing practices within the unit.
• Collaborate with supervisors and staff to reach department goals.
• Foster a positive work environment and establish effective processes and protocols.

As the Nurse Operating Room Manager, the professional creates a supportive work environment for staff and unit personnel. This emphasizes professional nursing practice, teamwork, collaboration, and patient-focused care. The manager plans, develops, and implements policies. They assess and track procedures. They oversee budgets and resources. Additionally, they manage quality initiatives and educational programs. They serve on governance councils to achieve goals.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• You will establish and share your vision for nursing practices within the unit.
• Work closely with supervisors and nursing staff to reach department goals. Teamwork is key in achieving success.
• Prioritizing a positive work environment, you'll ensure the establishment of effective processes and protocols, fostering best nursing practices and research.
• Encouraging the growth of each team member, you'll facilitate their professional development in both clinical skills and leadership capabilities.
• To excel in your role, stay informed on new nursing research, best practices, and patient care models.
• As a proactive problem solver, you'll identify and address any ethical or clinical issues that may arise.

Key Success Factors

• Familiarity and proficiency in nursing procedures and patient care standards.
• Know regulations, laws, and rules, as well as certification and accreditation guidelines. Be familiar with hospital standards and department policies related to nursing care.
• Basic computer skills are essential, including office software, information security, scheduling/payroll systems, patient record management, and email use.

Required Qualifications

• BSN
• 3+ years as an RN Manager with experience in Peri-op
• High level of Provider relationship/Provider Champion
• Certified or must be willing to obtain within 2 years in the OR

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Cath Lab or IR
• Outpatient Infusion in a management level
