Qualifications

• Direct patient care activities in perioperative environment.
• Education and support for patients and families during procedures.
• Competence in scrubbing and/or circulating for surgical services.

Responsibilities

• Educates patients and families about the communication process during the procedure and available resources.
• Acts as liaison between physician and patient/family.
• Demonstrates competence in scrubbing and/or circulating for all surgical services.
• Uses safety techniques in preparing for and assisting with procedures and sets up instruments and equipment.
• Keeps patients safe from adverse events during surgery and procedure.
• Participates in safety, quality, and regulatory activities.
