Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Sugar Land is seeking an OR Scheduling Coordinator to schedule procedures for the Operating Room and Endoscopy, while supporting the department's daily operations. This full-time role is 10:30am–7pm, Monday–Friday, with 2+ years of OR scheduling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist OR Environment/Holding Area Clinical Manager with planning, organizing, scheduling department workload, and daily work assignments.
• Assist with managing departmental employees, provide daily feedback, participate in interviews, and supervise training processes.
• Inspect facility condition and initiate corrective actions.
• Assist with patient preparation and patient transport as needed; ensure supplies and information are delivered timely.
• Collaborate with Holding Area Nurse to provide staffing resources.
• Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors within budget, time, supply, and quality constraints.
• Promote professional growth and serve as preceptor and mentor to staff.
• Demonstrate compassionate, personalized care aligned with Memorial Hermann service standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds

Principal Accountabilities

• Assists the OR Environment/Holding Area Clinical Manager with: planning, organizing, scheduling department workload, and making daily work assignments.
• Assists the OR Environment/Holding Area Clinical Manager with managing departmental employees: provides daily performance feedback to employees as required, gives input into performance appraisals, conducts quality inspections, participates in interviews, and supervises employee training processes.
• Inspects physical condition of facility and takes appropriate corrective actions.
• As needed, will assist with physical preparation of patient and physical environment according to the age/needs of the patient/population served. Transports and transfers patients as necessary. Functions as a porter between departments ensuring required medical supplies, information, specimens, and products are delivered in a timely fashion.
• Collaborates with Holding Area Nurse to provide staffing resources to the Holding Area.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
