Job Summary And Qualifications

As a highly-skilled Circulating Nurse in the OR, you will provide excellent patient care during operative and invasive procedures. Under the direction of the OR Manager, you will work with other team members to ensure the operating room is prepared for procedures. Our team supports each other, and we are looking for an amazing nurse who values patient care as much as we do.

In our Unit:

  • We have a very tenured surgical team passionate about training and development.
  • Very little call required with weekends every 8 weeks, occasional overnight call, but rarely called in as we do not normally have emergent surgery needs.
  • 250-300 surgeries a month, from minimally invasive outpatient surgery to complex spine surgery.
  • We utilize robot-assisted techniques and are known for orthopedic surgeries — top 5% in the nation for Joint Replacement Excellence.
  • Recognized among the Nation's Top 100 Hospitals for 7 years in a row.
In this role:
  • You will perform general nursing duties and be competent in all OR procedures as verified by specific competencies.
  • You will facilitate smooth and efficient room turnover and patient flow.
  • You will complete all paperwork and computer charting for accurate and timely documentation.
  • You will anticipate and meet the needs of the surgeon based on your experience.
  • You will ensure the Pre-op Checklist is complete before patient transfer to the surgical suite.
  • You will be prepared for assigned cases.
  • You will respond appropriately in emergencies or stressful situations.
  • You will facilitate communication between patient, surgeon, OR staff, family, and other departments.
  • You will give thorough intraoperative reports to PACU nurses.
  • You will follow safety and security policies, including hand hygiene, universal precautions, PPE use, and isolation procedures.
  • You will act professionally, especially under pressure.
Qualifications:
  • Current Utah RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS/ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • At least one year of OR experience required.
