Job summary

Sovereign Health System is seeking a Circulating Nurse to support the operating room team in maintaining a safe, sterile environment and coordinating patient care before, during, and after surgery.

The role requires an NJ RN license, OR experience, and proficiency in sterile techniques, with BLS and ACLS certifications favored. The nurse will prepare rooms, assist with positioning, and document intraoperative events.

Qualifications

• Current New Jersey RN license.
• Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• Prior OR experience; knowledge of sterile techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room ensuring sterility and availability of equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Assist in patient positioning and maintain safety and comfort during the procedure.
• Monitor sterile field and uphold aseptic technique to prevent infection.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and team members to anticipate intraoperative needs.
• Document nursing care, surgical counts, and intraoperative events accurately and timely.
• Respond promptly to emergencies or unexpected situations during surgery.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
