Job summary

USPI Advanced Surgery Center of Bethesda is seeking an OR Charge RN to supervise the OR team, coordinate daily case flow, and support education and policy initiatives. The role requires an accredited nursing degree, a Texas RN license, and 3 years of surgical experience.

You'll manage scheduling, communications with physicians, instrument and supply ordering, and quarterly inventory. The position includes performance improvement involvement and Joint Commission readiness in a fast-paced ASC

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school or professional nursing.
• Three (3) years experience in surgery.
• Current Texas RN License.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS required.
• CNOR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the RN circulator and direct the OR team as needed.
• Assist in coordination of daily case scheduling in the OR with other staff to ensure schedule will flow smoothly (OR & X-Ray).
• Prepare monthly call schedules and coordinate monthly OR staff meetings for all OR, radiology, and anesthesia techs.
• Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
• Order instruments and equipment for cases.
• Coordinate inventory quarterly in all areas of the OR.
• Assist with OR education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
• Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
• Supervise the evening shift including coordination for next day and Radiology.
• Communicate with physicians to resolve equipment or instrument issues by coordinating ordering or getting repairs done.
• Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments for cases.
• Work with Materials and Sterile Processing to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
• Preparing and administering annual evaluations
• Assist with hiring and orienting OR staff members
• Help revise and prepare policies related to OR functions
• Assist in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys
• Enter company data collections and observations with company EDGE
• MIDAS data entry.
• Assist with staff counseling as necessary
• Coordinate and assist in Performance Improvement Projects.

Position Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school or professional nursing.
• Baccalaureate degree preferred or work related experience.
• Three (3) years experience in surgery.
• Current Texas RN License
• BLS, ACLS and PALS required
• CNOR preferred
• Independent decision making skills.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
• Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families and vendors.
• Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to the operating room.
• Clinically proficient in OR nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Pay Range- Min: $46.23 to Max: $57.79
