Job summary

United Surgical Partners International's Advanced Surgery Center of Bethesda is seeking a motivated OR Charge RN to supervise the OR team, coordinate case flow, and manage daily staffing and schedules in a fast-paced ASC environment.

The role requires RN licensure with prior surgical experience, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and CNOR preferred. You will partner with physicians, vendors, and hospital departments to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care and compliance with Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program.
• Baccalaureate degree preferred or work-related experience.
• Three years experience in surgery.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS required.
• CNOR preferred.
• Independent decision making skills.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
• Excellent communication with staff, physicians, patients, families and vendors.
• Knowledgeable of OR policies and procedures.
• Clinically proficient in OR nursing skills across age groups.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the RN circulator and direct the OR team as needed.
• Coordinate daily case scheduling in the OR with staff for smooth flow.
• Prepare monthly call schedules.
• Coordinate and perform monthly OR, radiology, and anesthesia staff meetings.
• Communicate with physicians to resolve issues and improve efficiency and flow.
• Order instruments and equipment for cases.
• Coordinate quarterly OR inventory.
• Assist with OR education by coordinating or giving in-services.
• Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
• Supervise evening shift and coordinate case completions for the day.
• Coordinate repairs or ordering to resolve equipment issues with physicians.
• Communicate with vendors for supplies and instruments.
• Work with Materials and Sterile Processing to coordinate supplies.
• Prepare and administer annual evaluations.
• Assist manager with hiring and orienting OR staff.
• Help revise and prepare OR policies and procedures.
• Maintain Joint Commission survey compliance.
• Enter company data collections and observations (EDGE).
• MIDAS data entry.
• Enter data into Kronos timekeeping.
• Assist with staff counseling as necessary.
• Coordinate and assist in Performance Improvement Projects.

Position Responsibilities:

• Supervise the RN circulator and direct the OR team as needed.
• Assists in coordination of daily case scheduling in the O.R. with other staff to ensure schedule will flow smoothly (O.R. & X-Ray).
• Prepares monthly call schedules.
• Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly O.R. staff meetings for all OR, radiology, and anesthesia techs.
• Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
• Orders instruments and equipment for cases.
• Coordinate inventory quarterly in all areas of the OR
• Assists with OR education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
• Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
• Supervise the evening shift which includes coordination of the staff for case completions of the day and setting up for the next day. This also includes Radiology.
• Communicate with physicians to resolve equipment or instrument issues by coordinating ordering or getting repairs done.
• Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments that are needed for cases.
• Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Dept to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
• Preparing and administering annual evaluations

Pay Range- Min: $46.23 to Max: $57.79
