Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Trophy Club is seeking an OR Certified Surgical Tech to scrub for surgical procedures under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing. You will prepare and maintain supplies, instruments, and equipment, supporting the surgery center's philosophy, objectives, and goals.

You will participate in quality improvement activities and work with OR specialties such as Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, and

Qualifications

• Requires high school completion or equivalent.
• Prior verifiable experience as a scrub technician in OR.
• Certification in OR Technology (C-SA or C-ST).
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or 2+ years prior surgical tech experience.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient conditions.
• Excellent team player with strong communication with staff, patients, and physicians.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team.

Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center.

Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Experienced in supporting the following specialties: Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Urology.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Prior verifiable experience as a scrub technician in the OR setting before 2009
• Certification in OR Technology (C-SA or C-ST)
• Current BLS certification
• Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or at least two years of previous surgical technician experience
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions of the patient when needed
• Excellent team player with the ability to communicate with staff, patients, and physicians
