Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a CPD/STERILE processing technician to manage case carts using the OR schedule and Meditech. You will review cases for the next day, pick supplies, ensure cart completeness, and resolve discrepancies with the Charge Nurse or CPD Manager.

You will also track instruments, update preference cards and labels, and serve as a liaison between OR and CPD to ensure timely instrument delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Central Processing program.
• CRCST or CBSPD certification.
• Three years of CPD, OR, or supply chain experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews OR schedule for next day and picks all assigned supplies and instruments.
• Facilitates case cart preparation for add-ons and communicates conflicts.
• Proactively calls for subsequent case carts to ensure readiness.
• Facilitates flow of completed case carts back to sterile processing.
• Ensures next-day case carts are complete before end of shift.
• Collects data and guides correct storage and flow of supplies.
• Develops a turnover kit list and returns instrumentation to CPD and OR timely.
• Maintains collaborative relationships to support team goals and a positive environment.
• Leads by example and communicates OR needs to CPD supervisors.
• Stays updated on schedule changes and adapts workflow accordingly.
• Sets priorities and timelines for processing and decontamination.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR staff on instrument requests and changes.
• Documents changes in CPD communications and shift reports.
• Updates kit count sheets and prints labels as needed.
• Adds items to CPD case carts and confirms accuracy.
• Works professionally with OR and sterile processing teams.
• Inspires staff through encouragement and positive teaching.
