The University of California is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to join a dynamic, fast-paced surgical support team in Los Angeles. The role includes patient moving and transport, handling blood products and specimens, and equipment transport and maintenance.

Under supervision, you will help with room readiness, restocking supplies, cleaning soiled rooms, and distributing anesthesia support materials, while delivering customer service and improving departmental efficiencies.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift, carry, push or pull 50lbs or more (80-90% of the time).
• Dexterity to operate hospital equipment.
• Strong communication to take direction or instructions.
• Ability to articulate with a diverse and multidisciplinary team.
• Awareness of potential exposure to hazardous materials.
• Knowledge of disinfectants, germicide and sterilant.
• Knowledge of infection control, AORN, and AAMI standards.
• Hospital Operating Room experience preferred.

Description

Are you interested in joining a dynamic, fast-paced environment? The incumbent will perform duties as an Operating Room Assistant to include: patient moving and transport, blood products, specimens, and equipment transport; equipment maintenance, room readiness, restocking supplies, cleaning soiled rooms/supplies, storing and distributing anesthesia support materials. Other duties include but are not limited to customer service and departmental efficiencies. The OR Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Clinical Support Manager and Supervisors. Assignments are given according to organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job: Ability to lift, carry, push or pull 50lbs. or more, constant (80-90% of the time)
• Dexterity to operate equipment
• Communication skills to take direction or instructions
• Ability to articulate with a diverse and multidisciplinary team
• Awareness of potential exposure to injury of hazardous materials
• Knowledge of disinfectants germicide and sterilant
• Knowledge of infection control, AORN, and AAMI standards related to job functions
• Knowledge of government regulations: JCAHO, OSHA, Waste Management
• Hospital Operating Room experience preferred
