Job summary

Austin Cosmetic Surgery LLC in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced OR/PACU Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. This full-time role features a four-day workweek with four 10-hour shifts and guaranteed 32–40 hours per week, in a specialized elective surgical setting.

You will prepare patients, support the operating room, and guide postoperative recovery through discharge, working closely with surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure safety and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license.
• BLS or ACLS certification.
• Experience in OR, PACU, perioperative, or ambulatory surgery.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and decisive in a surgical environment.
• Strong attention to detail and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for scheduled plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures.
• Complete preoperative assessments and verify consents, labs, medications, documentation, and readiness.
• Serve as a circulating nurse during procedures and manage sterile technique.
• Maintain infection-prevention and patient-safety protocols.
• Complete surgical counts, documentation, specimen handling, and OR processes.
• Collaborate with surgeon, anesthesia provider, technicians, and clinical team.
• Care for patients in PACU postoperatively and ensure safe discharge.
• Monitor airway, breathing, circulation, pain, nausea, and recovery status.
• Administer medications per orders and protocols.
• Respond to changes in patient condition or complications.
• Provide postoperative instructions to patients and caregivers.
• Assess discharge readiness and complete required documentation.
• Assist with crash cart checks, equipment, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives.
• Maintain an exceptionally organized, efficient surgical environment.
• When not in OR/PACU, assist clinic by seeing post-op patients and performing pre-op duties.

We are a growing, physician-led plastic and cosmetic surgery practice seeking an experienced OR & PACU Registered Nurse to join our surgical team.

This is a full-time position with a four-day workweek and guaranteed 32–40 hours per week, designed for an experienced surgical nurse who wants to provide exceptional patient care in a specialized, elective surgical environment.

What You'll Do

As our OR/PACU RN, you'll be involved throughout the surgical experience—from preparing patients and the operating room through postoperative recovery and discharge.

Responsibilities include

• Prepare the operating room for scheduled plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures.
• Complete preoperative assessments and verify consents, labs, medications, documentation, and surgical readiness.
• Serve as a circulating nurse during surgical procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection-prevention and patient-safety protocols.
• Complete surgical counts, documentation, specimen handling, and required OR processes.
• Work closely with the surgeon, anesthesia provider, surgical technicians, and clinical team.
• Receive and assess patients immediately following surgery in PACU.
• Monitor airway, respiratory and cardiovascular status, pain, nausea, surgical sites, drains, and recovery from anesthesia.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition or postoperative complications.
• Provide patients and caregivers with clear postoperative instructions.
• Assess discharge readiness and complete required documentation.
• Assist with crash cart checks, emergency equipment, medication inspections, and surgical-suite readiness.
• Participate in quality improvement, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain an exceptionally organized, efficient, and patient-focused surgical environment.
• When not in the OR or PACU, will help in our clinic by seeing post-op patients, administering injections, and performing pre-op duties.

Qualifications

Required

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS or ACLS certification
• Previous OR, PACU, perioperative, or ambulatory surgery experience
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Confidence caring for patients recovering from anesthesia
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and decisive in a surgical environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Preferred

• Plastic or cosmetic surgery experience
• Ambulatory surgery center experience
• Previous circulating experiencePACU or critical-care experience
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification
