Job summary

OSCI in Illinois is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. The RN will care for patients before, during, and after surgery, record symptoms, administer medications, and support patient rehabilitation.

The role includes patient education and emotional support within the surgical team. The position demands collaboration with staff across departments to ensure seamless care and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • ACLS certification required to be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Minimum of one year of related work experience in a surgical/operating room environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in pre-surgical, operative and recovery periods; collaborate with medical staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Adhere to standards of care per state board of nursing, nurse practice act, and governing regulations to ensure quality care.
  • Offer emotional and psychological support to patients, families and friends.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Protect patients and staff by following infection-control policies and proper medication handling.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operational information.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse position is responsible for treatment and care of our surgical patients. They record patient symptoms, administer medications and assist with patient rehabilitation. The registered nurse educates patients and family members about medical conditions and provides emotional support. RNs work within the context of the surgical team to provide care to individuals before, during and after a surgical procedure.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Starting hourly wage ranging from $34 -$40 based on previous experience

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide direct patient care to individuals in the pre-surgical, operative and recovery periods; collaborates with medical staff and other departments daily to promote coordination of patient care.
  • Assure quality of care by adhering to compliance standards; following ASC philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
  • Protect patients and staff by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support / Pediatric Advance Life Support
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required to be obtained within one (1) year of employment
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience in a surgical/operating room environment is preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (per ADA guidelines):

Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Stooping, Grasping, Lifting, Talking, Hearing.The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform each activity.

Physical requirements: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The worker may be exposed to the following hazards:
