UPS is seeking an Operations Research Analyst to design, develop, and deploy optimization and analytics-based decision support systems. The role involves formulating complex models to support operational decision-making and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Operations Research and experience with mathematical optimization, along with strong programming skills. This is a permanent position located in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Operations Research (OR) Analyst designs, develops, and deploys advanced optimization, mathematical programming, and analytics‑based decision support systems across the organization.
This role involves formulating and implementing moderately complex models and algorithms—including linear and mixed‑integer optimization methods—to support large‑scale operational decision‑making.
The OR Analyst develops, maintains, and enhances production‑grade analytical solutions that drive cost optimization, resource allocation, pricing, acquisitions, and performance improvement throughout UPS operations.
The position requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, software engineers, and data teams to translate complex operational challenges into scalable quantitative models and robust software solutions.
The OR Analyst is responsible for model validation, computational performance tuning, technical documentation, and full lifecycle support of analytical products.
This role may also provide technical leadership, mentoring, or management of supervisors within the department.
