Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks an Operating Room Aide to assist with direct patient care and daily unit operations under supervision. Duties include preparing equipment, assisting with setting up the OR, patient positioning, transporting instruments, cleaning between cases, and final case-cart checks, with a high school diploma or GED required and BLS certification mandatory.

Previous ORA experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in an operating room as an ORA.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Must be able to assist with patient care and unit functions under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Obtain equipment, supplies and positioning aids for operative cases.
• Assist with setting up the operating room, hold limbs for prep and assist with positioning.
• Dismantle and transport dirty instruments to decontamination area.
• Perform room cleaning and turnover duties between cases and transport patients.
• Perform final checks of case carts to ensure supplies and equipment are ready.
