Primary Responsibilities
  1. Perform routine and specialized nuclear medicine procedures and examinations for radiological diagnosis.
  2. Administer radio-pharmaceuticals and medications for patient imaging and therapeutic procedures.
  3. Operate computed tomography (CT) scanners used in conjunction with nuclear medicine procedures (PET technologists only).
  4. Demonstrate competency performing all nuclear medicine procedures and the operation of all related equipment.
  5. Provide images, data analysis, and patient information for diagnostic interpretation or therapeutic procedures.
  6. Process data and enhance digital images using advanced computer technology.
  7. Evaluate images to determine the technical quality and calibration of instrumentation.
  8. Evaluate new protocols.
  9. Assist in the completion of the accreditation process for American College of Radiology (ACR) every 3 years.
  10. Maintain communication with radiologists, physicians, patients, and their families.
  11. Perform quality control and reporting tasks, set up and conduct procedures, maintain schedules, assist radiologists, and contribute to departmental efficiency ensuring quality and continuity of patient care.
  12. Acquire patients' chart data/requisitions, review for correctness, medical issues, contraindications, and ensure study appropriateness.
  13. Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and safety.
  14. Maintain standards related to HIPAA regulations.
  15. Maintain CPR certification.
  16. Provide a positive patient experience by sharing information about procedures and follow-up steps.
  17. Ensure diagnostic quality of images without need for retakes; perform quality assurance on images and equipment; demonstrate competency in system use.
  18. Make informed decisions after considering available options.
  19. Contribute to outpatient operations, maximizing modality productivity.
  20. Monitor patients' vital signs during examinations.
  21. Use sterile techniques to prevent contamination.
  22. Identify anatomical orientation on images and ensure proper file identification.
  23. Review examinations for technical accuracy, present completed exams to radiologists, and communicate pertinent data for patient care.
  24. Demonstrate teamwork and contribute positively to the work environment.
  25. Meet deadlines, follow through, and demonstrate accountability, flexibility, and adaptability.
  26. Engage in professional growth and maintain certifications, registrations, and CME credits through education, conferences, and workshops.

Required Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) certification.
  3. Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (PET technologists only).
  4. CT Certification within 180 days of hire.
  5. At least 1 year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Associate or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiology, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine.
  2. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  3. Ability to learn and use departmental computerized systems and devices.
Physical Demands
  1. Standing and walking for extended periods.
  2. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  3. Assisting patients weighing 300+ pounds and positioning them for procedures.
  4. Correctable eyesight to 20/20 for equipment operation and image review.

Compensation and Benefits: The hourly range for New York residents is $28.03 to $54.95, based on factors like experience, education, and certifications.
