Kaiser Permanente in Falls Church (VA) is seeking an Optometrist to examine patients with a full range of visual problems, diagnose eye diseases, and prescribe treatments. You will refer to Kaiser Permanente physicians as needed and participate in department and educational activities.

Responsibilities include prescribing contact lenses, low-vision aids, and collaborating with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology to manage patient care. Travel to NOVA centers may be required.

Formación

• Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry is required.
• Optometrist Licenses for MD/VA/DC are required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.
• National Provider Identifier (NPI) required at hire.
• Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: 2+ years in interdisciplinary health care or completed residency; Accredited residency in Optometry preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Examines patients with a full range of visual problems using optometry instruments and techniques.
• Diagnoses visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies and prescribes treatment per state laws.
• Prescribes and fits contact lenses.
• Determines visual requirements for the partially sighted and prescribes low-vision aids.
• Uses diagnostic tools to detect ocular pathology and assess systemic diseases.
• Refers patients to Kaiser Permanente providers for further care as needed.
• Participates in department meetings and peer reviews; collaborates with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology.
• Assists in eye care in-service education programs for staff and patients.
