Kaiser Permanente in McLean, Virginia is seeking an Optometrist (Medical Group) to examine patients with a full range of visual problems, diagnose diseases, and prescribe treatment in accordance with state licensing. You will refer patients to other Kaiser Permanente providers for further evaluation and care.

The role requires graduation from an accredited school of Optometry and current Optometrist licenses for MD/VA/DC, Basic Life Support, and National Provider Identifier at hire.

Formación

• Optometrist license in Maryland, Virginia, or District of Columbia.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire.
• National Provider Identifier (NPI) required at hire.
• Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire date.

Responsabilidades

• Examines patients with a full range of visual problems using optometry instruments and techniques.
• Diagnoses visual diseases and prescribes treatment according to state laws.
• Prescribes and fits contact lenses.
• Determines visual requirements of the partially sighted and prescribes low-vision aids.
• Uses diagnostic pharmaceutical agents under physician orders to detect ocular pathology.
• Refers patients to other Kaiser Permanente providers for further care.
• Participates in departmental and educational meetings and peer review.
• Consults with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology on patient care.
• Assists in eye care in-service education programs for staff and patients.
• Evaluates and manages anterior segment disorders under standing orders with an ophthalmologist; includes travel.
