Qualifications

• Doctorate in Optometry (OD) required with MA therapeutics license and board certification.
• Massachusetts Controlled Substances license required.
• Minimum five years professional experience preferred; public health experience preferred.
• Bilingual a plus; fluent English reading, writing and speaking required.

Responsibilities

• Examine eyes and visual system to diagnose diseases and impairments.
• Analyze test results and develop a treatment plan.
• Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
• Prescribe medications for eye diseases where legally permitted.
• Educate patients on eye care, lens care, and safety factors.
• Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other clinicians as needed.
• Work as part of a health center team and align with CHC values and mission.
