Job description

At Key City Vision Center, you'll have an incredible opportunity to improve and preserve the precious gift of sight while making a difference each day. If you're dedicated to helping individuals see their world clearly, and you're looking for a long-term opportunity with clinical autonomy, an established patient base, and the potential for future partnership, Key City Vision Center in Dubuque, Iowa is where you want to be.**Why join us?**Established in 2013, Key City Vision Center is an independent practice known for exceptional, personalized eye care and premium eyewear in a welcoming environment where patients are treated like people, not numbers. The practice combines trusted professional care, experienced guidance, quality products, and genuine relationships to help every patient see better and feel confident. With an established and loyal patient base, five cross-trained employees, modern diagnostic technology, and a fun, supportive office culture, the practice offers a strong foundation for an optometrist who values individualized care and independent practice. **What you'll do:** As an Optometrist at Key City Vision Center, you will provide comprehensive, personalized eye care to an established patient base while maintaining the high level of service for which the practice is known. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive eye examinations and vision evaluations; diagnosing and managing common ocular conditions; providing spectacle prescriptions and individualized vision recommendations; performing contact lens examinations, fittings, evaluations, and follow-up care; educating patients about eye health, treatment options, lens choices, and preventive care; using modern diagnostic technology; maintaining accurate and timely documentation; and collaborating with experienced optical and support staff. The experienced team manages much of the non-clinical patient experience, allowing you to focus primarily on excellent patient care. This position offers 30-40 hours per week.**Who you are:**You're a personable, patient-focused optometrist who values individualized care and takes pride in building strong relationships with patients. You bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sound clinical judgment, professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to thorough, high-quality eye care. You work well with an experienced team while remaining comfortable practicing independently, taking ownership of patient care, and helping shape the future growth and direction of the practice. Experience is preferred, but established optometrists and newer graduates who are a strong fit for the practice and community are encouraged to apply.**Why you'll love Dubuque:** Located along the Mississippi River at the junction of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois, Dubuque offers affordable small-city living with easy access to larger Midwest destinations. Madison and Cedar Rapids are roughly 90 minutes away, while Chicago and Milwaukee are convenient weekend trips. Surrounded by the bluffs and outdoor recreation of the Mississippi River Valley, Dubuque offers scenic surroundings, short commutes, and a lower cost of living without feeling isolated. **You’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:*** Flexible schedule with no nights or weekends and the ability to structure your days and hours around the way you want to practice.* Partnership opportunity.* Flexible scheduling to accommodate vacations.* Health insurance stipend to help offset the cost of individual coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace or another eligible plan.* Established and loyal patient base with experienced staff.* Fully equipped exam lanes and modern diagnostic technology, including two lanes of Reichert exam equipment, an Optos camera, Lumenis IPL, an Antares corneal topographer, and a Reichert autorefractor/keratometer.* Significant clinical autonomy, strong income potential, and a meaningful voice in the future direction of the practice. **Minimum Qualifications:*** Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry program.* Current Iowa optometry license or eligibility to obtain Iowa licensure.* Good standing with applicable licensing and regulatory bodies.* Ability to provide comprehensive eye examinations and routine contact lens care.* Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach to care.* Ability to collaborate with an experienced optical and support team.* Appropriate professional liability coverage.* Ability to complete required credentialing and enrollment with applicable insurance plans, if participating in insurance-based care. **Preferred Specialties:*** No specific specialty is required. Experience or interest in dry eye treatment, specialty contact lenses, myopia management, or other areas that could expand the services offered by the practice is welcomed. Candidates interested in developing a specialty area within the practice are encouraged to apply.
