Job summary

Acuity Eye Group is the largest physician owned and physician managed Eye Group in the U.S., based in Southern California with over 50 locations. The Optometrist will examine eyes, diagnose and treat visual problems, and manage eye diseases while providing eyewear solutions.

Responsibilities include performing eye exams, prescribing glasses or contacts, counseling patients, and maintaining thorough medical records in a compliant practice.

Qualifications

• OD degree and active California license in good standing.
• Strong communication and patient interaction skills.
• Experience using ophthalmoscope and tonometer.
• Ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye and vision tests.
• Diagnose defects such as myopia, astigmatism, glaucoma.
• Prescribe medications, eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Advise patients on proper eye care techniques.
• Promote eye and general health by evaluating and counseling patients.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality per policy.
• Book follow-up appointments when re-examination is required.
• Refer patients to eye doctors/ophthalmologists for surgery or severe injuries.
