We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometrist to join our Portable Optical Program, providing comprehensive eye exams to students in various school districts, onsite in a school setting. The ideal candidate will ensure high-quality clinical care, train staff as needed, and foster positive relationships with patients, parents, and educators. This candidate should be flexible to deal with a changing environment, passionate about improving children’s vision, and have a commitment to providing quality eyecare ensuring all have access.
Organization and Staff Overview:
The HealthCare Connection has been operational since 1967 and has strong community and political support. It is a non-profit organization with seven practice locations and is committed to providing quality, culturally sensitive and accessible primary care services to the surrounding area population focusing on the medically underserved, unserved, and uninsured.
On-site services include family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, obstetrics and gynecology, nurse midwifery, family planning, preventive dental, diagnostic laboratory, HIV testing, immunizations, hearing and vision screening, health education, translation and Medicaid eligibility assistance.
Essential Functions:
The Optometrist will be responsible for the clinical care of all patients examined, ensuring accurate diagnoses and appropriate recommendations for eyecare. The role includes training staff on clinical procedures, HIPAA compliance, coding and billing, and optimizing patient flow.
